Adult Volunteers
All our leaders are volunteers. It is immensely satisfying to help our young people develop – and learn skills & make friends ourselves while we’re at it. In fact, you may well find you can bolster your own CV as a result too.
We need you!
We urgently need volunteers to help run brand new sections of Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scout that we want to open alongside our existing ones - there are so many children in Ashby on our waiting list who are missing out. We'd love to give them the chance to join the fun of Scouts but can't without your help. Please get in touch to find out more.
There are plenty of different roles, so please get in touch if you’d like to be part of the world’s largest youth movement and make a difference. Don’t just take our word for it, here’s a BBC article from 2017.
What might being part of our Scout group look like? In many ways, it’s up to you.
- Could you turn up regularly to help run the weekly meetings?
- Be involved in camps - helping set up, cook, be an extra helping hand with activities and supervision?
- Have you got a skill, hobby, professional knowledge that you could share on a themed evening meeting?
- Behind the scenes – could you help maintain the grounds or our equipment? Or help with aspects of admin?
- Our Trustee Board members are responsible for the proper governance of the charity. Maybe this sounds more your thing?
- Something else entirely – we’re open to suggestions!
We don’t expect any prior knowledge and there is training provided in the form of a range of modules. All our adults are required to hold an enhanced DBS and for some roles we will need you to wear a Scout uniform.
We’d encourage you to just give it a go. Try helping out for just 4 weeks, gaining an insight, before deciding whether it’s for you. If it is, great, if not, that’s also fine.
